UMass Will Have A Solid Presence In East Hartford

We are now less than 2 weeks out. The Uconn game is right around the corner. It was originally reported that sections 134-137 and 237-238 at Rentschler Field would be allotted to the University of Massachusetts. According to representatives at the UMass ticket office, 134, 135, 136 and 137 have all been sold out.

At this time there are over 500 tickets available on StubHub. However, upon further review, section 135, 136 and 137 have no tickets available. Section 134 has only 8 tickets for sale. Those sections clearly stick out in comparison to the surrounding sections.

Part of the sell out is due to the UMass band getting the go ahead from Uconn. The band will be making the trip down to CT. This is great for atmosphere. And is something that Boston College needs to embrace for the Minutemen’s 2014 trip to Chestnut Hill.

Back to the tickets in section 134 – 137; there has been some speculation that Uconn didn’t provide the entirety of these sections to UMass. I wasn’t sure myself.

However, at this point, I believe Uconn did give the entire lower level sections to the university. The official seating chart on the Huskies website labels each of those sections as a “visitor section.”

Packing those sections will be a great way to start the 2012 season. With the lower sections sold out, the UMass ticket office said that tickets in the upper level sections were to arrive in Amherst late last week.

Once the opening kickoff is in the air, things are going to get a lot harder for UMass Nation. It could be along inaugural campaign, as it generally is for 1-AA to 1-A transfer programs.

It looks like there will be at least a moderately strong UMass presence at Rentschler for UMass’ 1-A debut. And there should be given the proximity to Amherst.

More on the Uconn game in the week ahead.
