Justin Williams has been listed as both a wide receiver and a defensive back at times. However, it appears likely that Williams will play safety at the next level.
Williams was scheduled to visit Amherst on June 17th. We haven’t heard whether that trip happened, and if it did, how it went.
This more recent tweet from Wells Dusenbury says that WIlliams “is wide open right now,” per his head coach Irvin Jones. We cannot confirm this report, however.
It doesn’t surprise us to read that comment from Jones. After hearing such great things about UMass from Williams, it appears he has dropped off the Minutemen’s radar. We are not sure why.
We will keep an eye on Justin Williams to see if Amherst is still a potential destination for this 2013 standout recruit. The already solid 2013 class headed to Massachusetts could only stand to get better by adding a top prospect in the defensive backfield.
The University of Massachusetts does have a recent history of sending safety talent to the NFL. See above. Maybe Williams can continue that legacy. The potential is there.
